Pursuant to the Bill (Reg. No. 1469), since 1 January 2010, the rate of living wage shall be fixed by submittal of the Cabinet of Ministers prior to the scrutiny of the State budget, not by the Law on the State budget of Ukraine for a relevant year as envisaged by the Law "On Living Wage". The rate of living wage shall be periodically revised in accordance with the increase of the consumer price index and specification of the State budget indices.
The People´s Deputies stated that the Bill was of great social significance, as it fixed a single basic standard, i.e. a living wage.
The Committee members uphold the Bill, as its adoption will protect the constitutional rights of the employed citizens and maintain purchasing power of the population under the conditions of increasing prices and tariffs for services and goods.
